BECOMING A SLAVE
A slaves diary entry (by me) part 1 of 2 Mathews morning:
Dear diary,
Today I wolk up with a smile on my face. The sun was up and I could smell the smell of a hot summers morning. I could hear my mother and father in the kitchen. I was as happy as ever. Today was going to be one to remember!
1:57pm (6 hours later)
HHHHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! were under attack. The Liona tribe are invading. Me and my mother are in hiding and my dad has been captured. This is the worst day ever...
The Capturing of slaves
The capturing of slaves was the first part of the slaves life. They would wake up as normal then be invaded. Not by us english men or the Americans but by there own people who had made a deal with the English men that they would help if they could be free.
A slaves diary entry part 2 of 2 Mathew has been caught!:
... My mum is so brave she is going out there to save my dad ; I wish I was that brave. Wait she has been caught. OK I am going out!... NOOOOOOOOO not my dad and mum... and now ME.
8:49pm (7 hours later)
I was caught up in this massive thing it kept on moving. Iam so scared I dont have a clue as to were I am or were my mum and dad are. We went out erlier I think we are on a bigriver but there are no banks so I dont know what to say. I miss home, I miss my life. I always wanted to be a soldier like my dad brave and heroic but know who knows what my destiny may hold. Being here is scary. I feel like a dead peice of meat!

The Journey - What slaves think
The thing is people who are slaves are poor therefore they can't afford things like boats consequently they have no idea as to what a boat is. Also the slaves don't know much about the see so when they are taken to the see they are realy scared and confused as to were they are.
LIFE ON A PLANTATION
The life on a plantation is scary, dirty, harmfull, tiring and hard. No-one wants to be a slave.
And no-one most definatly wants to work day and night on a plantation. NO WAY!!!.
Being a field slave was not at all easy. A field slave worked from sunrise to
sunset, but during harvest, they worked an eighteen-hour day. A field worker
was out in the field when the first sign of light shone until it was too dark
to see. Women field workers worked the same hours as men. Pregnant women were
expected to work until the child was born, and after the child's birth the
woman worked in the field with the child on her back. Field workers lived in
tiny huts with dirt for a floor. These small huts were no protection against
the cold winter winds. Slaves slept on rough blankets inside the hut. On
Saturday nights slaves from different plantations usually came together to have
a meeting. After a day on a cotton plantation the slaves got in a line to have
their cotton weighed and receive their daily food. The minimum amount of cotton
to be picked in one day was 200 pounds. The field slaves were driven all day
long by a white overseer with a whip. At about the age of twelve a child's work
became almost the same as an adult's. Slaves got Sundays off and maybe parts of
Saturday unless it was during harvest. On very hot days slaves might be given
one to two hours off at midday. Slaves sometimes hunted and fished during their
free time. A field worker's day was filled with hard work.
